Double ZipNut® Nozzle Dam Bolt
The Double ZipNut® Nozzle Dam Bolt® provides for rapid installation and
removal of temporary 36" intake dams in Westinghouse nuclear steam
generators. The bolt and handle are the same size and configuration as
existing tools being used throughout the industry and has a significant safety
factor for the anticipated loads.
Unlike existing bolts, the ZipBolt® can be pushed on and tightened during the
start of the outage and quickly removed at the conclusion. This activity is always
undertaken in a high radiation area which calls for complete ALARA analysis.
The ZipNut® Nozzle Dam Bolt substantially decreases time and thus radiation
exposure to workers.
ZipBolts® have been used with great success at Carolina Power, Light's
Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Station and, the Tennessee Valley Authority.
